PRIMARY PURPOSE: School Nurse must implement comprehensive program of health services for assigned campus(es), provide health services to students, and promote health education and preventive health practices for students. Substitute teachers must also complete a daily report or evaluation to communicate any pertinent information resulting from the day’s events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School diploma
Valid registered nurse or vocational nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners preferred
Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening preferred
CPR Certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of health appraisal to identify student health defects
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to implement policies and procedures
Experience:
Medical experience, preferably in community health or school organization
Training:
Annual substitute training at the start of each school year.
SALARY / WORK DAYS: Substitute Teacher pay scale; work schedule dependent upon school nurse absences
