Special Education Teacher - ISET (Intensive Social Emotional Teaching)
DESCRIPTION:
ISET is designed to support students who have significant social, emotional, and behavioral needs. Students require specialized and intensive academic and behavioral instruction in self-contained special education setting with a continued focus on supporting student skill development to enable them to successfully transition into general education settings.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare documents and attend ARD/IEP meetings for students eligible for special education services. Complete all district, state and federal paperwork required under IDEA, within the district's timeline. Implement an instructional program for eligible students to achieve mastery of the essential knowledge and skills. Collaborate with campus staff, related service providers and district special education administrative staff to provide an appropriate education for eligible students. Communicate with campus staff, district special education staff and parents/guardians information pertaining to student’s ARD paperwork, IEP’s and general progress. Develop PLAAFP and annual goals/objectives as indicated on student’s IEP. Retain all appropriate documentation regarding skills development and progress reporting. Complete state assessment for eligible students. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student’s progress and needs/concerns. Oversee the responsibilities of the paraprofessionals within the ISET Program. As applicable to student needs, provide care for students as related to hygiene, toileting and nourishment. Attend workshops/meetings as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Appropriate Texas teaching certificates (e.g. Special Education EC-12)
SALARY:
WISD teacher salary (pay scale may be found at www.wallerisd.net – click on‘Employment’ and ‘Professional’) plus Special Education teaching stipend
