Job Title:  Interventionist - Elementary Math

Reports to: Campus Principal  

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Primary Purpose:  Provide campus and district early intervening services for students in grades K-5 who have been identified as being at-risk or below grade level in the area of math. Provide small group instruction for students and monitor progress in achieving grade level performance.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas Teaching certificate with certification in Math, Generalist EC-4 or Generalist EC-6

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience preferred

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Instruction

 

  1. Provides targeted instruction and academic support for identified students.
  2. Collaborates with district and campus personnel to utilize research-based instructional materials and methods based on student needs.
  3. Coordinate the development, implementation, and progress monitoring aligned to the intervention plan.
  4. Enter progress data and intervention plans in the district software program.
  5. Implements the intervention program with fidelity.
  6. Intervention instruction will be focused on best practices, which include small group and individualized instruction.
  7. Develop and maintain individualized intervention plans for identified students.
  8. Collaborate with campus coordinators to discuss STAAR designated supports/classroom accommodation needs for identified students.

 

Professional Development

  1. Provide professional development on district adopted intervention programs to teachers as requested.
  2. Engage annually in professional development that supports research based practices for math interventions. 

Support

  1. Supports campus leadership in goal setting, including assisting with campus and district intervention plans.
  2. Works collaboratively with math teachers and other campus personnel to promote the best research-based practices, including using data to guide instruction.
  3. Develop and maintain a log of all parent contacts.
  4. Develop and maintain a log of all daily activities, student attendance, and students served. 
  5. Compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and electronic reports, records, and other required documents for at-risk students.
  6. Other Duties as assigned.

Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent district-wide and state-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
