PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Under minimal supervision assist with the processing of district property taxes following established procedures for collection of tax revenue. Provide clerical services to the tax assessor/collector.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 

Accounting & Data Entry

  1. Process and account for tax payment transactions, including receipt of cash, preparing deposits, and posting tax deposits.
  2. Receive and process applications for exemptions.
  3. Input tax data.

Records and Reports

  1. Assist with the preparation of annual tax rolls. 
  2. Prepare and send out prepared tax statements, notices, and receipts, as directed.
  3. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.

Other

  1. Assist taxpayers, officials, and other members of the public. Maintain effective rapport with the general public and handle any problems or concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.
  2. Prepare correspondence, memorandums, forms, manuals, requisitions, reports, and presentation for the tax assessor/collector.
  3. Answer incoming calls, take messages, and route them to the proper party. Handle questions and requests that fall within the level of responsibility.
  4. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Posture: Prolonged sitting. Occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
